VCC ( Virtual Credit Card).. what is it?
Imagine how you can now purchase items online without worrying about thieves getting access to your personal and credit card information! It’s such a heaven-sent for me and sure, for everyone who just loves to shop.
How is this possible? Well, I met someone who taught me about VCC. I don’t know if you guys already know (or even heard) of this. But, for everyone’s convenience, it is short for virtual credit card. It works just like your regular credit card, which you can use for online purchases. Cool, huh?
You maybe asking what makes it different from the regular credit cards. Actually, there’s only a slight difference. Like what I said, it functions like a credit card, only, the credit card number of this one expires quickly. Which makes it safer to use when buying an item on a website. Sounds like a disposable thing, right?
Each time you use it, you use a random card number. So, hackers won’t be able to make use of your account after a purchase. Dandy, huh? And you can only use a VCC on the site where the purchase was made.
Want one? It should not be a problem since most major credit card companies and banks like Citibank offer VCC. And yes, they are in the form of Visa and Mastercard, too. What do I know?! It’s been around for some time now! Banks thought of an effective way to outsmart those criminals.
On the issue of the legality of paypal and ebay verification, (like my doubtful friends are worried about) I think it should not be a concern in point of fact. This process depends on your VCC provider. If your provider supports it, then it should legal.
VCC has a few limitations, though. So, it doesn’t deserve a really good review from me. Imagine, you can’t buy tickets online! I hope they can do something about this. Like, even just one ticket site will do.
Online reservations for hotel and car rentals are also not possible. And here is a more disappointing confinement, you can’t make payments for recurring bills! Well, it seems its own advantage created its own disadvantage. The reason for all the limitation is because the credit numbers expire quickly. So, before the merchandise or service is even available for purchase, the numbers have already expired!
But, come to think of it. The security benefits are all worth it.
