Online Advertising - The Precise Way

The best way to profit from online advertising is to catch the attention of internet surfers.  But catching their attention should be on a positive note, and not the other way.  There are online advertisements which annoy their target markets.  Some turn-off internet surfers as these advertisements get in the way with what they’re doing.  Chances are surfers will not read nor even glance at the advertisements.  One important rule in online advertising is never to antagonize internet surfers.  They are the target clients of online advertisements, hence, should never be provoked.
Advertisers should therefore be aware of the things which usually irritate internet surfers. Most pop-up advertisements irritate people especially if upon clicking a desired link, the pop-up goes up first.  Some pop-up advertisements are even more annoying if they keep on appearing even if surfers have already closed them. So that pop-up advertisements would not be annoying, it should ask a user first if it will allow the pop-up to appear. Giving a user the option to view or reject a pop-up might win over the user to view the advertisement. To increase such a possibility, the pop-up must stimulate the curiosity of the internet user.  Of course, the product or service being advertised must contain truthful information.

Another cause of irritant among internet users is if online advertisements find their way to users’ emails.  Many people do not want their inboxes flooded with mails from unknown sources.  Some would even suspect that these are viruses which could harm their computers. Those who want to advertise this way should ask users if they want to receive emails from them.  They must identify themselves clearly and like in pop-up advertisements, seek permission.

So the right online advertising approach is to make the internet user feel that he is in control.  If online advertisements force their way into people surfing the net, it takes away that feeling of being in control.  The people who would be viewing the advertisements would not like that. And so will those resorting to online advertising, their products or services will not be marketed at all.

    I have to agree with you that to be successful you need to make the user feel that he or she in control. I have never thought of it that way before, but it sounds right.

    The surfer will only click on the advertisement if he or she likes it and finds it interesting. If it pops up from nowhere and if it’s annoying, the person will most likely not click on it.
